We Install On Your Server(s) |
You provide the hardware and we build a dialer cluster on it. A single server set up is built automatically from our Install CD. Our support is however required when multiple servers are used. (To use a single server dialer, download our Install CD and boot from it by typing 'osdial'. It will automatically build a ready to go single server dialer.) For a cluster set up, you will install the basic functionality and we will remotely access the servers and build the cluster for you. See a feature list of OSDial. To start, look over the hardware requirements, use the table to evaluate how many servers you need, and continue following the instructions down the page. |

The hardware requirements for a reliable dialer are higher than a media server. It quickly reaches thousands of read & write operations per second. Please note that our specifications are aimed towards a higher standard of operation and reliability. Lesser components may work under lower load or for testing purposes. • More cores are better than a faster computer, use a minimum of two cores, four recommended • Only use SCSI or SAS Drives. SATA drives will wear out prematurely (6-10 months) • SQL servers can utilize a lot of memory, upwards 12GB, minimum 4GB • Depending on load you may need 4GB RAM on the dialer, minimum 2GB • The Agent computer should have 1GB RAM, minimum 768MB • More than a few agents requires a timing source such as Sangoma UT51/51 or A200 (FXO) for each dialer, or you will have missed hangups, cross connects, etc • When using a single server it has the requirements of a SQL server • If you record calls use an Archive server to process and store the audio files on • Archive server can use SATA drives, always use the best drives available • Use the best switch(es) you can afford • Ideally use one dedicated switch for the cluster traffic and another for agents • Ensure the network wiring is done per specifications • Use APC battery backup power supplies for all servers, with max 30% load on the UPS |

The number of servers you need depend on how many seats you need. When using our Super Servers the following formula applies: (Note, these are our official numbers. Customers have reported having exceeded 80 seats using the 2 server set up.)
NOTE. A second SQL server provides redundancy of your data, and can be used to make queries that otherwise would have interferred with the dialer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
An Archive server may be needed to process and store recordings. Storing recordings on each dialer is not cost effective and will degrade the performance of your dialers. Our Archive server automatically receives the recordings (there are two for each conversation), mix them into one file and convert it to an easily accessable format. |
OSDial has an automated system for transferring files to the archive server continously. In turn it can copy files to a remote location, for example, a client's FTP server. Full logging keeps you informed of any issues that might occur, such as network issues or a busy remote server. |

Download OSDial images here: OSDial Verify the downloaded iso file is not corrupted: Boot from the install DVD you have the option to customize the installation to the function it will serve. Make your selection according to how many seats you will need. Usually one SQL, a dialer and an archive. Press F2 for the list of options:
This selection does not integrate them into a multi server cluster but selects the appropriate packages. The integration still has to be done manually by our support staff. Press F2 on the install DVD to list all your install options and how to make the proper selection. |
